Ambulance 2.0

The Hungarian localized version of the Maltese Charity Service’s First-Aid App provides a practical resource aimed at the general public, containing concise instructional guides across four key emergency topics that could potentially save lives.

Upon launching the application, it attempts to determine the user’s current location. Once available, the location is displayed prominently, and a large red button allows users to immediately contact emergency ambulance services with a single tap.

The app’s additional tabs offer valuable information such as steps to take if you encounter an unconscious individual or guidance on initiating reanimation procedures.

Based on insights from emergency medical personnel, the critical first four minutes following an incident are often decisive in saving a life. Unfortunately, many bystanders lack the knowledge or confidence to act effectively during this time.

Currently, the application provides localization exclusively in Hungarian. However, plans are in place to implement multi-language support as soon as translations are finalized.

The software developed by Magyar Máltai Szeretetszolgálat is accessible on smartphones and aims to deliver quick and useful assistance during various emergency situations.

The developers have prioritized making the guidance accessible to the broadest possible audience. They believe that the advice contained within may, in certain cases, be instrumental in saving lives. The guidance is explicitly designed for laypersons, not healthcare professionals. Due to widespread distribution challenges, limitations inherent to mobile applications, and considerations regarding the capabilities of lay assistance, some compromises in technical detail were necessary.

Our resuscitation guidelines adhere to the protocols established by the Hungarian Resuscitation Society and the European Resuscitation Council, based on their 2010 and 2011 directives.
